HEre at Rippling Whispers members can find the list of clan rankings here. If you're ever confused about the extent of one's duties this is the best place to look!
Leader: Clan leaders are the cats that run the clan, always having "-star" at the end of their names. Clan leaders are the ones that make sure everything is running smoothly in a clan, usually calling ceremonies, handling major decisions and crises, making political decisions, and will often be involved in many areas of clan life such as mentoring, hunting, and fighting when necessary. They earn their nine lives by traveling to the Shining Cavern and speaking with Soulclan.
Deputy: Deputies are basically the right-hand cats of the leader of the clan. They are the ones in charge of organizing patrols, helping set up attacks or raids, and helping to organize clanmates into certain actions in dire situations if the clan leader is busy. Most of all, the deputies are vital to filling in when the leader is busy elsewhere, sick, or otherwise unable to lead at the time. There is one Head Deputy and two regular, and though they share equal amounts of work the Head Deputy has the last say in decisions and is the one next in line to be leader unless they otherwise choose to pass it on. To become deputy, one must have trained at least one apprentice.
Medicine Cat: These cats are the healers of the clan. They are the ones that study herbal remedies and work with their clanmates to ensure everyone is healthy. They are the ones closest to Soulclan, determining omens and messages sent from their ancestors on top of memorizing herbs and injuries. There are always four medicine cats allowed, but there is always one Head Medicine cat who handles naming ceremonies and escorting the newest leader to the Shining Cavern. The second main medicine cat always comes next when the Head Medicine cat dies or retires from their duties.
Warriors: Warriors are cats who have been trained extensively in how to hunt and fight for their clans. They are the ones responsible for providing plentiful fresh-kill for their clans and ensuring no harm comes to those who cannot defend themselves or are unable to. They make up the bulk of the clan and hold an important role in keeping a clan strong, often taking up extra duties when necessary and often act as mentors for the next generation of cats.
Apprentices: Apprentices are the young cats of the clan that are being trained to become warriors or medicine cats. When a kit reaches 6 moons they are seen as eligible to become an apprentice with "-paw" at the end of their names to show this, but in some rare cases their apprenticeship may be delayed. Once a kit is one, they are trained to hunt and fight for their clan to become new warriors or trained in the art of healing using herbs and connecting to Soulclan. An apprentice though is not always clan-born and may be someone from outside the clan who decides to give up their previous life to learn how clan cats live. There is also an occasional exception in which an apprentice may change their path or a warrior may, such is the case sometimes with medicine cat apprentices. They handle the same duties as a warrior but by extension are also given the more menial tasks, such as getting ticks off elders.
Queens: Queens are warriors who have temporarily given up their duties to bare their kits and raise them until they are old enough to be apprenticed, though there are occasions that a queen may decide to stay in the nursery to help raise other kits. Queens play a vital part in the clan with helping their survival with having and raising the kits for the next generations and hold the freedom to not name the father of her kits. As of the newest Warrior Code, medicine cats are allowed to have their own families, given that they are of the same clan.
Kits: Those young cats who have their names ending in "-kit" and are six moons and under. These are the youngest members of the clan and tend to be rather energetic, curious, and mischievous little furballs. They always seem eager to become apprentices and boast of one day being the next leader, but they are also a vital part of the clan as a sign the clan will survive and thrive. Kits must remain in the nursery until their mother decides the right time to come out and kits are not allowed to leave camp, though some still do which may result in some trouble.
Elders: Elders are the oldest cats in the clans, raging from 80 moons and older, though there are times some younger cats wind up in this den due to a disability or serious injury preventing them from partaking in their usual duties. Most often these are warriors who have lived many seasons and have been able to live to see old age, allowing them to retire and allow others to take their place. Leaders, deputies, medicine cats, and queens will also retire when they feel too old to continue their normal duties as well, with most often the leader giving up what remains of their extra lives and taking on their original name. Elders are also seen as the wisest cats in the clans, sharing their experiences and council when necessary.
