Tiny had never been one to back town, to give up, to quit, he'd survived when everyone else said he would die, he fought his way to being a warrior when everyone else thought he wouldn't make it through his apprenticeship, and when the one cat who'd ever believed in him died...It had been the straw that broke his back, the last thing to drive him away from the clan that no longer felt like home. He'd never imagined himself turning his back on them, but they'd understood, at least mostly, that he couldn't stay where only tragedy tainted every memory. He could have tried, but in the end it would have been his undoing, and none of the cats who'd ever loved him would have wanted that.
But it didn't stop the pain, the relentless ache that weighed him down and slowed his steps. He didn't even know where he was going anymore, he'd broken into a run until his lungs screamed with pain, and now he was dragging his feet, the awkward limp where a replacement sat in place of his back left leg more present than ever after so much stress on the missing limb. He didn't recognize any of the scents around him, which told him that he was in another clan's territory, the fur stood along his back and he lifted his head to taste the air, trying to get a gauge on where he was.
Skyclan, from what he could tell he'd wandered right over Skyclan's border. Tiny knew he should turn back, trespassing was a bad idea, but he'd seen little of other clans, and he was curious about them, being a loner now, would it be so bad to explore a little?

Brindlestorm
And they say that i'm lost
Brindlestorm had stumbled out of the undergrowth, her usually pretty calico coat stringy and smelling slightly with her lack of time to sleep or bathe in the last few days. The clan had gone to the dark forest, and it was all crashing down on her head like bowling balls falling from the sky. She couldn't take it anymore, she wasn't a leader, she wasn't strong, and she certiantly didn't know how to deal with other cat's problems. She was just a pathetic shecat who was grieving for her lost leader and mate, and for the unborn kits they never got the chance to have. Tears washed her dirty cheeks, and she blinked three times, hard, once she saw Tinyspark's visage in the distance. Moving closer, she felt her pelt bristle weakly, still willing to protect her broken clan with her life.
"What are you doing here? I smell the Riftclan on you, isn't Witheredstar looking for you? He doesn't like his warriors trespassing, you know?" she spat, weakly, coughing slightly after and squinting at the intruder, standing in front of him and waiting for an answer, her head hanging low as she waited for his answer to her questions. She wondered if Riftclan was much better off, with their warriors now branching out into other clan's territories, even when Witheredstar had been adamant about that never happening.

Tinyspark's eyes scanned the surrounding, until his ears pricked at the sound of another cat, and when he saw the she-cat step out his tail puffed up a bit in shock, "Oh!" He back-stepped a little bit, until his replacement leg got caught and he stumbled back just a bit onto his rear, "Sorry, apologizes, I...Geeze...Really have no excuse..." He let out a soft, awkward cough, glancing to the side, he was trespassing, breaking a rule that his mentor and leader had drilled into his head, but Witheredstar was dead now. He sighed and got mack to his feet, glancing his head to the side, "Witheredstar can't say much. He's dead...Too many tragic memories there...I left." He gave her a careful expression, before his attention turned to her poor condition.
She looked like she hadn't entirely been taking care of herself, she looked...Like she was grieving. He lifted his head a little and tilted his head to the side, "have you lost someone too? I didn't mean to trespass." He spoke quietly, but without fear, drawing himself up a bit more, "Riftclan is under Dovestar's leadership now...I only left because...Staying would have ended me eventually..." His tail drooped to the ground and he sighed, "I'm Tinyspark, what's your name?" His ears pricked just a bit in interest, curiosity overriding his fear of having his ears torn off for trespassing, and perhaps he could find a place here anyway, a new set of faces without the baggage. |

The brindled shecat lowered her head in further grieving. Witheredstar had been like a father to everyone on the journey, a simple, kind and soothing presence to keep all their worries at bay. Every clan had wanted to take him into their own ranks, but respected his choice to lead the city-dwellers. To hear of his untimely death hit Brindlestorm so hard on top of the death of Skystar that she had to physically stumble a step away from the former Riftclan warrior and fall to her rear, sitting and letting her head fall, tears falling from her eyes is despair."No. No you can't be serious. Not Witheredstar too." She wailed out lowly, tears staining the ground around her paws as she sobbed silently for a second before being able to compose herself with a shake of her head. "I'm Brindlestorm, Skyclan's head deputy, and supposed-to-be-leader. But I can't do it, I can't take the responsibility. I'm not a good leader, and I'm too emotional." She said shakily, not understanding why she could say these things to an enemy warrior, but feeling like he could be trusted to an extent. "Skystar is dead too, but I can't bring myself to take his place. I can't." She said, shaking her head violently and willing her fast-flowing tears away, but they kept falling.

 It seemed like a good idea yesterday Tinyspark's eyes stretched only a little when Brindlestorm reacted so strongly to the news, and her tears were contagious as he felt his own eyes well up, causing him to lower his head and bunch his shoulders. He'd never been one to cry like this, to be emotional like this, but seeing her let go in such a way tugged his own heart, and his voice came out shaky when he spoke, "I couldn't bear to stay there without him...After my mother and father died...Witheredstar took me in...He believed in me..." He lowered further to the ground, momentarily weighed down by the grief that he hadn't allowed himself to feel. But after a moment, he took a deep breath and lifted his head, coming carefully closer to the struggling deputy to lean in and offer his side for support, laying his tail over her shoulder.
"I'm sorry..." He murmured the words softly, eyes half lidded and still shining with tears, his voice became stronger after a moment though, "But hey, they wouldn't have wanted us to let their deaths be the end...It hurts...But the cats we lose are never gone as long as we remember them, right?" He glanced up at the sky, as if hoping he could catch a glance of those he loved watching him, he hoped they were still proud of him, even after his decision to leave.
The words that tumbled out were bold, but came from a feeling he felt somewhere deep inside, "I know I'm a stranger...But if there's anything I can do to help?" He had no ties to any clan anymore, no cats left alive that he felt the same emotional bond for, it was either find another place to call home, or wander alone until he could wander no longer."Words" - 'thoughts' TAG: @username / NOTES: tba |

Brindlestorm flicked her ears at his words. The wise and gentle tone reminding her of the great Riftclan leader that had just passed. This cat had been quite close to Witheredstar, she assumed, since he picked up on the old leader's way of speaking. Then, and idea sparked in her mind. Maybe Tinyspark was a gift sent from Soulclan to Skyclan. Maybe Tinyspark would be able to lead the clan that she wasn't capable of leading herself, and that Onyxpelt wouldn't lead either. She knew the young tom meant well, but she could tell that Tinyspark had a lot more experience under his metaphorical belt, and he naturally had the gifts a leader does, especially when it came to giving comfort."Well... Maybe, maybe you could take my place, and lead Skyclan? You're obviously much better at leading than I am, and I can tell you were close to Witheredstar, his leadership qualities rubbed off on you." She said hopefully. She knew she sounded desperate, but he was all she had left, and she wasn't about to pass up the chance at getting her clan a good leader. Code be damned at this point, she needed her clanmates to be safe. Even that pesky Ferndapple and the petty Falconpaw.

It seemed like a good idea yesterday By the words he offered, he'd intended to lend a paw with protecting borders, settling disputes, keeping the peace, and his eyes stretched wide when the plea was made, "W-what?" He found his way to his feet, "I-I'm not even a good warrior..." He'd gotten good at putting his insecurities aside, even overcoming them, but this dredged up every flaw that he perceived in himself, real or not, and he felt his chest clench as he felt her eyes burning into his fur. There was no way he was fit to be a leader, sure he'd been close to Witheredstar, the old tom might as well have been his father, but that didn't mean he could ever be half the leader that he was.
"I-I'm..." His eyes darted every direction as he stumbled backwards, before turning on all four feet and darting the other way. His lungs burned from the panic setting in, eyes watered up from the wind whipping into his face. This was too much, this was too much to ask of a cat like him. He was too distracted to notice the root until his replacement leg caught and he went crashing to the ground, spitting leaves and dirt out as he finally tried to catch his breath, turning his eyes up to the sky in a silent plea to Soulclan, "What am I supposed to do...I'm no leader...I'm not even a warrior anymore..." He lowered himself to the ground and sniffed, "what's am I supposed to do, Witheredstar?" He knew the old tom wasn't there, and this fact ached in his heart as he curled up, bringing his tail over his face for some pathetic comfort."Words" - 'thoughts' TAG: @username / NOTES: tba |

"Wait, no please!!" Brindle called after the tom, tears pooling in her eyes as she watched him dash away from her. At long last, full hopelessness settled on her shoulders, and her head hung between her paws, her face covered in tears and the excess pooling around her paws. Her last hope had just stuttered and dashed away, and now her and her clan were doomed to be lost under the other four clans. She wouldn't be able to lead them, she had no capacity for leadership at all! She cried some more, sitting alone in the chilly weather at the edge of Skyclan territory, right where Tiny had left her.

Someone needed him. Looking down through the pool in the sky, at the territories below, he spotted Brindlestorm sobbing on the Skyclan border, and Tinyspark running as fast as he could away from her form. A calm entered his eyes, and he took a deep breath, sticking a paw through the pool, which took on a starry hue once he fell through the glassy water and into the sky, gliding down to the now-sitting Tinyspark, and landing right in front of the tom."Tinyspark, what are you doing all the way out here? Why did you run from Brindlestorm?" He rumbled gently, wondering why some of his closest friends and almost family had collided and caused grief for one another.” notes "Talking"'Thought'

It seemed like a good idea yesterday There was a half a moment where he swore he was dreaming when he heard a familiar voice echo through his ears, a voice that made his breath catch in his throat and more tears well up in his eyes. But he finally pulled his head up to meet the eyes of the tom who, for all effects and purposes, had been his father, "Witheredstar..." He choked softly, then sniffed and looked back the way he had run, "I don't know what to do..." He to to his feet, taking a tentative step towards the direction he'd come from, his eyes read so much confliction and uncertainty, "Brindlestorm...She wants me to lead Skyclan..." His ears fell back and he turned back to face the starry leader, swallowing thick, "but I'm not a leader...I'd just lead them into ruin..." Again a flicker of doubt crossed his face and he sighed, "she seemed so distressed though..."It was an awful feeling, like being torn in two, between the desire to help a cat that needed it desperately, and the fear and insecurity that convinced him that he could never lead a clan, he'd run from his own clan, and now he'd run from this one as well...Was that all he was good for anymore? Running when things got too much? He dug his claws into the ground and looked up at the old tom, "I don't know what to do...I'm just running away again...Eventually I'll run out of places to hide..." He remembered when he had thought this of himself, being so unsure as to how to lead and guide his clan. Ever plan he had ended up with multiple holes in it, and yet, others still regarded him as a great leader to look up to. He was sure Tinyspark would be the same, if he decided to take the leadership."I believe in your natural ability to lead those around you, Tinyspark. If you believe in what I'm telling you, and wish to take the leap of faith into leadership with my confidence by your side, then you'll find Brindlestorm where you left her, follow your own footsteps."Riftclan's former leader pushed himself to his now-powerful paws, and for the first time, showed off just how much youth Soulclan had restored in his form. He looked young, fit, and healthy, and much more powerful than he had as an elder in his clan. He grinned at Tinyspark, and touched his cold starry nose to the young tom's warmer one, a ghostly touch that showed how gone the leader was."I'll always be there to guide you, as well. I will watch over your pawsteps, no matter what action and future you choose to take.
