Sunstar Sunstar carefully creeped forward, his body flat to the point that his belly fur brushed the grass beneath him, eyes fixed on the fluffy brown creature ahead of him. The rabbit was busy digging at some roots, possibly for its next meal or for its own little babies. But as he was fixing to make his move the rabbit suddenly lifted its head, sniffing the air and ears twitching, causing the Swiftlcan leader to freeze and press himself further against the ground. He watched closely as the rabbit seemed to scan the area for a moment before beginning to hop off somewhere, Sunstar tailing it.
Finally, he saw a small burrow just ahead of the rabbit, a sign it was fixing to become impossible to get without risking injury to himself. Growling softly in his throat, he moved a bit faster, almost into a full blown run, streaking across the moors and lunging. The rabbit squealed when it heard the sound of his paw steps but was too late to immediately dive for its burrow, Sunstar biting on its necks seconds before it was all the way in. Panting slightly, the fluffy maned tom pulled the creature from its burrow but his ears perked slightly when hearing faint sounds in the burrow making him sniff slightly realizing there were some young rabbits inside the burrow. "Well, Soulclan is shining on Swiftclan this day." He purred, knowing his clan could use the extra fresh-kill but the rabbit itself was fairly large so dragging any others would require some effort.
So, instead, he carefully dug up a small hole and placed the rabbit in before covering it with some twigs and grass so it would not be taken by another predator. Satisfied his kill was safe, he moved back the few paces from the den and carefully dug at the entrance, widening it so he could fit in a little further and sliding his front part in cautiously first, seeing four squirming, little fuzzy bodies inside. "I thank Soulclan for this precious gift and knowing my clan will have a decent little meal." Sunstar murmured before he reached out a paw to one of the helpless forms, snagging his claws into them and dragging the first baby rabbit to him, hissing as it struggled to get free and quickly biting its back.
Once he was sure it was dead, he carefully backed out of the den and dragged the dead form out, placing it out beside the den before ducking back in for the next.

Sunstar Sunstar was barely into the burrow before he heard the sound of someone approaching, pushing himself back out to peer back and finding Shadowflight, his head deputy. "Shadowflight, good day indeed." He greeted, giving a quick dip of his head allowing her to see for herself how many more remained in the burrow. Three were still remaining, no doubt frightened by the sound their parent had made and one of their siblings was suddenly missing. "A bit of help would be welcoming, all of these rabbits alone would take me a few trips back and forth to camp." Sunstar said gratefully.
Turning to look back at the burrow, he couldn't help the look of relief knowing his clan very much needed this sort of meal. "Soulclan seems to be favoring us today, that's for sure. If you want to get the next rabbit, you're more than welcome to." He offered. With Shadowflight's slimmer frame compared to his, he figured she might have an easier time reaching further back than he can. [/p] Tags: @echo , other Swiftclan cats are still welcome Notes: ---

Sunstar Sunstar stood by as Shadowflight took her turn getting into the warren. He kept his eyes out on anything else that may be slinking by or someone perhaps wandering their territory again, such as that loner as of late. But he kept this thought to himself for the time being, just making sure nothing else was ready to come in and steal their hard earned prey.
But hearing a hiss, Sunstar turned his gaze back to Shadowflight in the den, waiting for her to come out before he could ask if she was alright. When she came out with the response before the words had even left him, it was clear the rabbit kit had given her a little nip. "Hmm, indeed. Rabbits may make for excellent prey but they aren't without some risks themselves." He acknowledged with a nod, knowing there were incidents of warriors actually getting attacked by a frightened hare that tried to fight back as a last resort. Their small claws and front teeth were more than capable of inflicting some serious damage and infection could make it even more of a grave concern.
"Make sure to get something for your paw when we're done." He informed her, figuring Shadowflight could handle a small bite wound. The rabbit had been too young to inflict too serious of a wound and knowing his deputy, she wouldn't allow a rabbit bite stop her. But, it was now his turn.
He brought his slightly larger frame forward, unsheathing his claws to get a grip on the dirt and began digging it out some more so he could reach better before finally working his way in. He never could understand why rabbits lived in these dens, even their own were much more open than this. But finally he heard the squeaking and terrified movements of the last two kits and reached his paw in to snag his claws on them. This next one snapped at his paw, but only nicked his claw instead, making him still wince slightly. Well, they were putting up a fight at least. But, it didn't stop him from dragging this one out and killing it swiftly as the last one he had snagged. "Last one is all yours." Tags: @echo Notes: ---
