Falconpaw
The dark brown she-cat pushed her way through the entrance of camp, dragging a squirrel and two plump robins in her jaws and grunting as she stumbled slightly from the weight. Falconpaw had taken the afternoon to do some hunting since some things seemed to be taken care of there in camp. Brindlestorm also hadn't pulled her aside for any training or to do something so she had taken upon herself to go out and do something rather than sitting around waiting to be told she was needed for something in camp or patrol wise. What warrior would she be if she just sat an waited?
Falconpaw made her way over towards the fresh-kill pile dropping her share of prey into the pile and flopping down to allow herself a brief period of rest. The prey hadn't exactly been light nor easy to catch and she could feel every muscle screaming for trying to leap between trees or racing after the squirrel when it tried to bolt. But, Falconpaw was determined to show she could be one of the best warriors Skyclan had, even if that meant focusing on one thing she was really good at and that was hunting. Though, even she had to admit there were times she probably was pushing herself but it came from her slight liking of making her prey suffer before killing it, bringing up the satisfaction to know she was in control.
Her gave went towards the Tiny Mountain, full of nothing but a deep desire and determination that filled her muscles each time she looked to it. 'One day Skyclan will look to me and I'll be leading this clan to greatness.' She thought with a satisfied purr, before beginning to lick her ruffled fur back to some orderly appearance since the running about and climbing had done any attempts of that earlier. There are torn claws, shattered bones and chills in my heart where the dark things reside.
| Onyxpelt ruffles his fur and steps out of his nest, with a mighty yawn -rather impressive for a cat of his size- he trembles forward jaws apart. With a small blink he clears the den's mouth and looks down from the path leading to the fresh-kill pile.
Making his way over he picks out a plump mouse, glancing up he spots a cat about the same size as him, bringing his prey over to where she is he drops it and says "Hi, there. I don't think we have met yet. My name's Onyxpelt, what's yours?"

The young she-cat was finishing grooming her fur when she heard something plop down near her, causing her to glance up from her grooming to find one of the clan deputies had approached her. "I know who you are Onyxpelt, most of the clan would know one of their deputies." Falconpaw had to stop herself from rolling her eyes, wondering why of all cats to be a deputy one was so clueless to not know the name of all his clanmates. "I'm Falconpaw, nice to meet you in person." She greeted a bit stiffly, wondering if Brindlestorm really should be partnered with such a cat.
True, he probably proved himself ready for the position but she was less inclined to believe he would be ready for such a thing as being a leader. "Just waking up I suppose?" She inquired, having not seen him earlier when she left camp and could only assume he was busy elsewhere or just awakening. Tags: bolt Notes: Yes, Falconpaw is going to give some sass, have fun >  |

(My stuff is being annoying, so normal post, sorry for the short post btw)
His eyes change from sparkling to small chips of grey stone. His smile dissappears and he looks up at the apprentice. Picking up on the scarcasm in her voice he says "Alright then, Falconpaw. You think I should know the name of every sassy apprentice in the clan?" Standing fully to his feet he says "If I did, I'd never be able to focus on the important things. Like advising the leader, you know, dumb things like that."
"Alright, waking up is always hard. Congratulations." He says, somewhat mockingly.

Falconpaw "The last I checked, proper leaders know everyone in the clan. It's not a difficult task to do in between the important things, but if you don't know a cat's name when they've been here all their life then yea, I'd say there's a problem." Falconpaw retorted, more than able to match this cat's remarks. "It's late morning, guess you can get up before sunhigh so there's one thing you can pat yourself on the back for and raise your head proudly." She responded in a mockingly praising voice. Still, it made her snort after and curl her tail over her paws.
"Brindlestorm doesn't seem to have a problem juggling the minute matters with the major concerns. Maybe you ought to learn more from her." Falconpaw suggested, knowing despite their occasional problems she did respect Brindlestorm. The she-cat had a steady paw and knew how to guide her when she needed to be reined in or improve somewhere, so the suggestion wasn't exactly one of mockery so much as a genuine suggestion. If one wanted to be leader or head deputy how did they expect to carry out their duties if they didn't know their clanmates? [/p] Tags: bolt Notes: Nah it's fine, it happens. |

This young cat was pushing him, either as a test or it's just herself. Either way, Onyxpelt disliked her. With a deep breath he says "Alright little one, how about when that 'entire life' is only a few moons? What about then, you expect me to know the name, rank, and role of every cat? You think that leaders in the past have never forgotten names?" Tearing at the ground in anger he closes his eyes.
With a sigh he says "Well, you know what? Brindlestorm also doesn't seem like she wants to become leader anytime soon, so maybe she should take wisdom from your all knowing self. Because you know everything about leading cats, and a clan. You seem to have everything down, battle plans, dispatching patrols in the morning. Yes, that's what I do when these squabbling clans decide to go to war because 'oh my, they got an inch into my space, so yeah, I think I can pat myself on the back."

Falconpaw Falconpaw couldn't help the mrrow of laughter that left her at Onyxpelt's response, genuinely skeptical this cat was anywhere fit to be a deputy at all. "Now you're just grasping twigs." She retorted, giving him a look of disbelief at his logic of things. "First, my point was that if you're in such an esteemed position for some then knowing the names of your clanmates is important. How are you suppose to plan anything without having some knowledge of the clanmates you've lived with for moons? Second, the newborn kits and clans not from this clan is another thing entirely. Actually, that's common sense." Falconpaw pointed out, trying to keep her tone from becoming that one of annoyance.
But, she wasn't going to hide her skepticism of this cat being remotely fit to be a deputy. "I'm well aware Brindlestorm doesn't want to be leader, mentors and apprentices do talk, given that they have a decent relationship." She added pointedly, her eyes fixed on him with a look that wasn't all too friendly at the moment. "And I'm not claiming to know everything, contrary to what you apparently think. I'm pointing out something that should be the most obvious concern in the world. Say we did end up going into a fight, do you even remotely know the names of your warriors at least? Maybe some of the older apprentices like myself? Because if you don't, I feel sorry for your prospects as Skyclan's leader."

"Grasping twigs? I don't see any." He says, only joking, knowing that Falconpaw would light up about it only being a phrase. He says "I mean... you seem all knowing, like how you assume that I care anything about a snarky apprentice." He pauses for a second and then says "But, when you make a good impression maybe I'll remember you when we're not in a life or death situation.
He nods "Oh, of course I know the names of warriors, not every one of them decides that being snarky when someone asks your name is the best idea." He puts his paw down, "So, are you still going to yell at me for asking your name? Or would you rather me call you the wrong name?"

Falconpaw made no hesitation to hide unsheathing her claws, letting them dig into the earth beneath her while her lips curled back into the beginnings of a snarl. "You are a mouse brained idiot." Her response was harsh and unamused by his attempts to "lighten the mood". She was the exact opposite of finding this funny. This tom was suppose to be one of the candidates for their leadership and she was already less than pleased by such prospects of their future in his paws.
"You'll be the death of this clan if you become leader. If your response for snarkiness is purposely forgetting someone's name or rebuffing the obvious, you will get us all dead." She growled, moving to her feet and turning on the spot, making it so that her tail slapped his muzzle. "If it ever comes to battle, maybe it's not just our enemies across the border you should be watching, their claws may not be tearing into your back." She told him darkly, glancing over her shoulder with a narrowed gaze and ears flat. Tags: boltNotes: Yay first time I've gotten to show her dark side in the open XD |

Onyxpelt looks away from the slightly smaller cat. As she calls him an idiot his head snaps back around, his grey eyes focusing intently on her. "Choose your next words, very carefully." He warns her. He'd already noticed the subtle movement of her unsheathing her claws, the beginnings of a snarl. He was beginning to honestly worry this foolish apprentice would attack him. "You will be the death of this clan if you become leader." He hears her say, "If your response for snarkiness is purposely forgetting someone's name or rebuffing the obvious, you will get us all dead." He feels his paws twitch slightly. His eyes harden into chips of cold stone, he says very softly "Have you forgotton who you are speaking to?" He tilts his head to the side, inviting an answer. He sees her start and he continues, cutting her off. (Sorry for the soft powerplay  ) "I'm the deputy, you will treat me with respect no matter how much you dislike me." He pauses for a moment, "You, Understand." The way he said it was less of a question and more of a command, not open for any other response. Onyxpelt disliked throwing his power around but he was ready to put this younger cat in her place. She had disrespected him, a clan deputy and strayed to close to the line of threating him. Falconpaw went to leave, more than fed up with this sorry excuse of a so called deputy. But she had barely taken a step before the tom came running up, blocking her path and causing her to have to step back once more. Her own eyes became narrowed slits when he began practically ordering her to respect him and that she would be whether she liked it or not, based on his tone that was. All she could do was curl her lips into a silent snarl. "I don't give a rat's tail who you are!" She spat at him, fur bristling and tail lashing, her claws digging into the ground once more. "You're an embarrassment of a deputy, and the fact of any of our clanmates you were seen as worthy of leader material." She added.
Her claws flexed, her muscles tensed, she was about ready to lash out at him before movement from the corner of her eye immediately stopped her. She whirled around to find one of their most senior warriors watching them with calm but curious eyes. Hawkheart had probably heard their tense exchange and she could feel his gaze seeming to drill into their pelts.
Seeming as there was no way she could possibly get away with striking one of their deputies now with someone's eyes on them, Falconpaw could only turn and glare at Onyxpelt. "Keep one eye open if you're ever alone deputy, the lake is full of a lot more dangers than just the likes of foxes, badgers, and the other clans." She hissed lowly, so only he could hear before she shouldered past him. Giving him little chance to block her path yet again and taking off up the gorge and into their surrounding territory. Falconpaw didn't normally try to show her darker side, but Onyxpelt had pressed her closer to that fine line and she had him on her list to watch.

Onyx was visable shocked by the apprentices response, he watches intently as her eyes narrow and her fur bristles. She spits angrly and calls him an embarrassment of a leader. He felt his claws unsheath subconsiusly, he had a sense telling him that she was about to do something foolish. He feels the dirt part and be driven further into the ground as he finds himself leaning slightly back. He gets a gut feeling and looks around, he spots Hawkheart watching their exchange with intrest. She warns him to keep an eye open if he's ever alone. He mutters "I'll be sure to keep an ear free as well." as she walks off.
