Pondclan
CAMP | Like that of the old Riverclan, the Pondclan camp lies on a fairly large island that is sandwiched between the Saddle Ridge Pond and Green Creek River. The Island is rocky but well hidden by a dip in the ground that is surrounded by both reeds and thorn bushes to provide coverage. The ground in camp is covered in sand, pebbles, and, fairly often, often dead leaves from the surrounding trees. The island itself has several smaller black willow trees growing within the limited area, serving as a way for warriors or apprentices to keep an eye on things when they need a suitable place to look over. The camp opening is just a break within the thorn bushes, where a deep cut in the ground allows for cats to come and go with ease. |
Dens
Leader's
Den
Den
The leader's den is situated under the roots of a set of black willow trees, that grow around the opening of a crevasse in the side of the camp's walls and allows for the leader to sleep comfortably or allow for a few cats to be within their den. They have an easy access to the Great Lily Stone which is a large boulder plastered with lily pads and algae from the river, in which the leader can sit and address the clan from. This is located on the left side of the camp opposite of the warriors and apprentices dens. |
Medicine Cat's
Den
Den
The den is located in another crevasse with naturally made shelves and an open area where they can make their den and for sick cats. This cave is covered partly by the hanging roots of a black willow tree growing in the side of the dip. The medicine cat's den also has very easy and quick access to both the pond and river in case of emergency. |
Warrior's
Den
The Warriors' den is made out of two fox sedge bushes with black willow branches woven in for greater protection. The den is on the right side of the camp, closer to the camp's entrance than any other den. There are indentations in the ground of the den, which is quite roomy enough for 25 or more warriors, where a warrior can place bedding and make a comfortable nest. |
Apprentices'
Den
The apprentices' den is set up in a similar fashion to how the warriors' den is, with this den being reinforced with brambles instead of black willow branches, and has smaller indentations in the ground for nests to be made in. It is located on the right side as well just next to the warrior's den. |
Nursery
The nursery for newborns of Pondclan is an island canned Nursery Island. Nursery Island is an island that can be reached by a narrow strip of land just barely covered by water. The small island is covered in reeds, with fox sedge around the edges and black willow branches woven in to give greater strength and additional cover. There is a small clearing where younger kits can play or queens to relax. *Nursery: The actual nursery is a miniature hollow in camp that the cats have covered with spare reeds and branches. This is where queens that are no longer nursing, and are preparing their older kits for their apprentice ceremonies move to. |
Elders'
Den
The elder's den is located in what remains of a black willow tree that had long since died and fallen over, leaving but a stump remaining. The roots from the dead tree had grown downward into the rock, but there was an opening left in the stump to make a decent sized den for the elders to sleep. It was also one of the few spots not out of a crevasse or fox sedge bushes. The entrance is covered by lichen and some weaker spots are reinforced with willow branches. |
Territory Markers
Green Creek River
Green Creek River is several fox-lengths across and is usually a calm, slow moving river that allows for a cat to swim across in certain places, and wade through in others, without concern of being washed away. The water extends for some miles, to even parts unknown outside the current territories, with one area that's down stream flowing into a smaller river that goes deeper into forested parts around the lake and winds into Silverclan territory. The river is often doted with smaller boulders and islands, one of which is where Pondclan has made up their camp. In several places along the river, there are places dotted with rocks to make crossing safe, even if the water is moving quickly. |
River Oasis
This area of the river is one of the most shallow and is considered an ideal spot. This area is within the forest mainland that has a high rise on one side that is rocky and cannot be climbed down, instead a series of ledges line the right side allowing cats to climb down to the rocky side where smaller waterfalls trickle down from smaller streams above. The high rise has a larger ledge in which can be used to spot possible danger for some feet away. There are stones that allow for crossing or one can simply wade through since the water is usually quite shallow and reaches just past one's belly fur. The opposite is flatter and drier, allowing for one to sunbath or fish in peace. |
The Deep Marsh
Considered one of the most dangerous spots on Pondclan territory, the Deep Marsh is a large bog-like area that's covered in quicksand and deep, sticky mud. Kits and Apprentices are kept far away, and even the bravest of warriors know to be cautious around this sticky place. Cats that get too stuck will drown in quicksand, or get so stuck in mud that they are unable to move and get out again. However, this area yields large birds for prey that don't land anywhere else, so sometimes, in hard times, it's worth the risk to hunt here. |
Sandy Beach
The Beach lies on a lightly forested island slightly smaller than the island camp, having a few pines and black willow trees with some grasses strewn about it. However, this isle is, for the most part, nothing but sand. The island allows for the apprentices to learn climbing and to hunt in a forest setting but is surrounded by the river on all sides so they can also practice their river fishing. They learn to move and fight in sand, water, and undergrowth and try to make use of both the land and the water. There is a set of stepping stones that connect to the camp or to the mainlands, making travel to the island easy and efficient. |
Prey
Fish, Water Voles, and small mice are the main prey Pondclan brings in from its small forest, marshes, and river territory with ponds strewn about it. However, when times are especially tough in Leaf-bare or when a drought hits, Pondclan cats have been known to go after large birds of prey. But that method of feeding the clan isn't often used. |
Credit mostly goes to @tundra for coming up with, and providing the base information for me so I only had to tweak it to fit Pondclan. Thanks again, my friend.
