Welcome to the beginners guide to the forums! If you’re here, it’s probably because you’re new and maybe people are annoyed by the way you roleplay, but I’m here to help you with that! This will be devided into sections. Ways Of Roleplaying, Phrases The Roleplayers Use, Things To NEVER Do While Roleplaying, How To Make A Roleplay, and a Grammar guide.
Ways Of Roleplaying:
You’re probably used to doing this when you roleplay: *walks away and hunts* DON’T DO THAT. Here’s how you should roleplay: Raggedpaw padded into camp and spotted his sister Redpaw. He smiled, “Hello Redpaw.”
If you do it like that, then it’s less confusing, and more proper. Also, your character doesn’t have to be your screen name. My screen name is Corvus, but not all of my characters are called that =3
Phrases The Roleplayers Use:
Chari: A character. An example of use would be: “I have a free chari if you want to rp”
RP: Stands for roleplay. An example of use would be: “Do you guys wanna rp?"
Poof: When someone leaves without telling everyone. It usually lasts for at least ten minutes, but usually more. An example of use would be: “Did Corvus poof?” or “Here, but I’ll be poofy.”
Mary Sue: A perfect character. Here’s an example of a Mary Sue: Rainleaf is the best fighter in the whole clan, and will be made clan deputy, even though she’s never had a mentor before. She also has a wonderful mate, that she picked out of all the toms that wanted to be her mate. It’s sometimes SO HARD for her to be soooo young, mature, and pretty all the time! She’s friends with every one in her clan, and even the cats from the other clans love her! Did I mention she’s immortal????
God Modding: "God Modding" is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other RP-ers try.
Siggy: Siggy is pretty much short for “signature”. You might wonder, “What are those things at the bottom of people’s posts that always show up?” Those are siggy’s =3 You can make or change your siggy on your profile page.
Karma: You might notice that under your screen name, you’ll see either Kit, Apprentice, Warrior, Deputy, Clan Leader, Elder, Soulclan Member, or Soulclan Leader. What it says determines how many posts you have made. But if your karma is a kit, it doesn’t mean you have to roleplay as a kit! You can be pretty much anything you want! (as long as the spot is open)
Things To NEVER Do In A Roleplay:
1. Like said above somewhere, NEVER roleplay with stars. It’s really annoying.
2. NEVER refer to your chari as “I”. Say “my character” or the name of your character instead. An example of what NOT to do would be: "I have a crush on you"
An example of WHAT to do would be: My character has a crush on your character
3. If you are one of those people whose main goal in the rp is to get a mate, don’t rush through it!! People usually don’t mind if you act like you’re desperate to get one, but what people hate is when you make your chari talk to another chari like, three times, and make your chari say they have a crush on their chari. If that didn’t make sense, allow me to give you a better example.
Example: “Hey Dirtspeck! Do you wanna go on a walk?” Rainleaf asked, trying to make herself look pretty.
Dirtspeck nodded, “Sure.” He followed Rainleaf out of the forest.
Rainleaf took a deep breath. “Dirtspeck, there’s something I have to tell you…I…I like you!”
“…Dude, we talked like, three times in our life.”
4. NEVER make a Mary Sue or God Mod. If you don’t know what that is, look at the phrase section of this.
5. DON’T go to other clans and say, “Check out my clan! Please join! Here’s a link!” It’s so annoying.
6. NEVER give your clan cat an omen. Unless you got permission first (the leader will most likely say no), then it’s just plain annoying!
How to Make a Roleplay:
Most roleplays fail at some point, so don’t get all, “Why aren’t people coming on,” if that’s happening. Just remake it. Anyway, usually roleplays will have rules. Rules are very important, because it will tell the people how active they have to be, the requirements of joining, whether you can type out of character without using parentheses, or pretty much anything really.
Grammar Guide:
OK, some people get really annoyed by this, so as much as I hate grammar, here it is.
1. If you have more than one chari, then double click enter when you use a new one. If they’re in the same room, or doing the same thing, the only click enter once. An example:
Rabbitfoot ate a mouse.
Longfur licked his fur.
2. If you’re unsure of a spelling, then look it up!!!!!! If you literally just type a word in the search bar, it’ll either show that your spelling was correct, or it will ask, “Did you mean (insert word here).”
3. Don’t get mad if someone corrects your grammar. They’re just trying to help, and it’s a good thing that they’re helping.
